Drugsdogoodthings. Last ned Escapeship her

N&D: Who are you guys, and how did D/R/U/G/S come about?

D/R/U/G/S: Drugs is Cal, 21, and George, 19. Two journo students withnothing better to do.

N&D: What kind off aesthetics are you into more generally? What inspires yoursound?

D/R/U/G/S: Hip hop mostly, that’s always been our major soundtrack. We’llalways be city boys like that. Although a lot of our stuff comes from jamming with loops and samples and what not I’d like to think youcan hear a little bit of that in the beats. We try and keep it as organic aspossible, the majority of dance music is so compressed these days its hard tolisten to. I like dance music that has its own atmospherics and exists in its own little world.

N&D: How is London these days? Do you guys feel part of a current music scene or are you running solo?

D/R/U/G/S: Can’tdeny that there is a lot of good shit brewing around here right now, moreimportantly there’s a lot of good shows happening, I could list ten regularnights where you’re guaranteed to see quality. For example not even not even, don’t die wondering, white heat, adults and offmodern. Right nowwe pretty much only exist online and in peoples heads as a sound and a name. Iquite like that actually, there’s no need to have our faces everywhere. Wereare hyped about some of the shows we’ve got booked for sure.

N&D: Any cool friends we should check out? Any recent music that youreally enjoy?

D/R/U/G/S: Our buddies Egyptian Hip Hop are taking over, also loving a lot ofexperimental dance coming out right now, stuff like Visions Of Trees and GoldPandaRadiant Dragon tokes from the same bud we do but breathes out some next levelshit. We just did a remix swap with him which is sounding tight. Hyped for the newField record also.

N&D: Any drugs being especially popular in London at the moment?

D/R/U/G/S: Prescriptions and Alcopops.

N&D: What’s next?

D/R/U/G/S: We’ve got ajoint coming out on the new Merok Records compilation, the line-up looksawesome. Then were just looking forward to getting the live show on the road. We’ve had a couple of labels enquire about putting something out but were not lookingto rush things. Were also working on a couple of remixes and djing at a coupleof clubs. Building our own bizarre little empire, were just happy that peopleare open to something a bit different
